| A Happy New Year to each of you reading today’s Newsgram! Today’s column will address three topics, and in order they are Veteran/Military Friendly Congregations program, MCA Scholarships, and the Distinguished Service Awards. Veteran/Military Friendly Congregations (VMFC) – please note the article below which lists our newest congregations who have joined this ministry. Having mentioned it several times recently, I highlight VMFC as it is an excellent way for a congregation to embrace, honor, and support all those who serve in uniform – especially in these times of constant deployments – and their families. VMFC congregations honor all members who have served our nation – actively serving, retiree, or veteran. Going forward we will always list new VMFC congregations as they join the program. |
MCA Scholarship program – next week we will announce the specifics for this year’s program, the number of scholarships to be awarded, and the date by which applications must be submitted. As a reminder, we support seminarians who are chaplain candidates. This past year all happened to be in the Army but we seek to support all.
Distinguished Service Awards – In the next week we will be sending out this year’s guidelines for the Distinguished Service Awards. These awards honor outstanding chaplains in all components of the Armed Forces as well as outstanding chaplains from the Civil Air Patrol and the Department of Veterans Affairs. These are singular honors for each selectee. At least one Chief of Chaplains was so honored a few years in advance of being selected for their position. If anyone thinks they know who that is, please email or text me and I will announce the “winner” and the Chief of Chaplains next week.
