New Military hymn released for Veterans Day 2022

Planners for the services, ceremonies and observances of Veterans Day 2022 now have a new resource to consider: a military hymn entitled, “Ever Faithful to the Call.”

Army Korean & Vietnam Combat Engineer, and Composer Tom Lough turned to chaplains, veterans, family members, widows, and church music professionals for their ideas and suggestions in the hymn’s development. Field testing of the hymn in late 2021 provided additional feedback for the final revisions.

The four-verse hymn was sung recently as part of an organ recital in the West Point Cadet Chapel at the United States Military Academy. Craig Williams, the chapel organist, said, “I feel this hymn has the potential for widespread use in military and civilian settings for Veterans Day and other occasions as well.” “Ever Faithful to the Call” is a hymn that honors the service of our soldiers as they do whatever is necessary to keep us free. Please consider this hymn for use in ceremonies, events, and services for Veterans Day 2022. Share this information with interested others as well.

This easy-to-sing hymn was inspired by ideas and suggestions from many sources, such as chaplains, veterans, military wives, church music professionals, military professional associations, and others. The verses reflect the Army core values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.

The hymn is provided free of cost for nonprofit and noncommercial use, such as in worship services or public ceremonies, and is highly recommended for use with Veterans Day 2022. The hymn can be reviewed and downloaded for free for nonprofit use at www.everfaithfultothecall.com
